AMENDED ROUTES!
All maps open in a new window
Use postcode LS17 9LG for Satnav
"Streetmap" large scale - Harewood House main entrance (for Car Parking)
5 mile
This is our traditional 5 mile but instead of an out-and-back at Emmerdale, we've put an extra loop just after the start so we've a little more distance before entering the permissive path.
10 mile
We're not allowed to run round Eccup Reservoir this year due to breeding geese, we have the above-mentioned loop near the start, then after Emmerdale we'll be running along the access road at Eccup (same as last year's 8 mile), but on the way back, after Emmerdale, putting in a scenic out and back loop alongside Harewood Lake and towards the house
The 5 mile and 10 mile will start at the same time. The route will divert just after 3 miles. Anyone entering the 10 mile and not reaching the 3 mile marker within 42 minutes will be asked to run the 5 mile route.
2 mile
The route will do a U-turn on Church Lane at the gate before the Village Hall, rather than looping back into the showfield.

MAPS FOR MARSHALS

Maps open in a new tab
  • Showfield and Village Hall cars for runners should not come down Church Lane
  • Parking under the arch then turn immediately right, left into the showfield. All cars to point downhill and exit downhill
  • Junior Race note for 2015 the route is 1F, 1E, 1D, 1I, 1D, 1C, 1B, 1A, 1C, 1D, 1E, 1F (i.e. we will U-turn on Church Lane at 1I rather than re-enter the showfield at 1H, 1G
  • Section 2 note for 2015, from 2C we have a loop towards "Eller Fields" and then back to 2D
  • Section 3 no change, at 3F/3G/3H the 10 milers turn left, the 5 milers continue straight on
  • Section 4 for 2015, the water station will move to just before 4D
  • Section 5 for 2015, we have an extra loop for the 10 mile starting at 5C. 5 milers will continue straight on but 10 milers will turn right, along the track to "Weirs", then turn left up another track, doing a U turn just after the "H" of Harewood Park on the map. This is 2-way traffic, we will have cones down the centre and runners will be asked to keep right. It is a private path so no access to general public.

LATE ENTRIES AND ON-THE-DAY INFORMATION

  • The Racebest website will show the number of places still available.
  • But to save money and save a possibly long queue on the day, please enter in advance if possible.
  • We will close online entries 6pm on Monday 2 November. Race numbers should be picked up from the "collect on day" queue.
  • The "collect on day" queue will be shorter than the "enter on day" queue.
  • The "collect on day" will be arranged in alphabetical order of surname.
  • If you are unable to run we can transfer your number to someone else for an admin charge of £2 if received by email before 6pm Friday 17 October or £3 on the day
  • Anyone found to be running in the race in another person's number will be disqualified - you are cheating our charities who receive ALL of the race profits
  • We do not allow competitors to run wearing MP3 players or similar

On the day:
  • Late entries (if available) will be taken in the Village Hall.
  • But for parking, please turn at the traffic lights at Harewood and go under the arch leading to Harewood House (you don't have to pay Harewood admission fees).
  • For full travelling instructions see the competitor information.
  • (Use postcode LS17 9LG for Satnav).
  • We suggest you arrive AT LEAST 30 minutes before the start of your race.
  • If you are going to run the 5 or 10 mile, why not come a little earlier and cheer on the competitors in the 2 mile?!
  • Please email [email protected] if any questions!
These races, promoted by Valley Striders, are in support of Lineham Farm Children's Centre, Eccup, near Leeds AND, for 2009 onwards, the profits are shared with Yorkshire Air Ambulance
In 2008, one of our runners suffered a heart attack near to the 8 mile point which was inaccessible to the St John Ambulance 4 by 4. They called out the Yorks Air Ambulance helicopter who took him to Harrogate Hospital, where he was in intensive care for several days. We are glad to report that he made a full recovery and he ran our 2 mile race in 2009. For this reason, this year we have decided again to donate half our race profits to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance.

  • Hope you all had a good race today
  • Congratulations to Andrew Pearson and Karen Pickles, winners in the 10 mile race
  • Congratulations to all the junior winners, in particular Charmaine Porter who broke the girls record, Jake Worton first boy, and to Seb Christie, Dominic Mather-Hunter and Amy Pearce who set age-group records.
  • Thanks to the brilliant weather, over 300 of you turned up and entered on the day, which was a nightmare for our computer inputters but very profitable for our charities.
  • We hope to have raised nearly £4,000 to be shared between Lineham Farm and Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
  • Good to see Tony Fell running the 2 mile, so with the 8 miles last year before he "fell", he's now done 10!
  • You may have noticed the BARR scrutineer at the race - any feedback about the race would be appreciated - please email [email protected]
  • Apologies, we ran out of medals in the 2 mile - we'll post them on to you at the weekend.
  • Certificates will be sent out in the next 2 weeks to all juniors and anyone raising £10 or more.
  • These races, promoted by Valley Striders, are in support of Lineham Farm Children's Centre, Eccup, near Leeds AND, for 2009, the profits will be shared with Yorkshire Air Ambulance

    5 OCTOBER 2008
    Supporting Lineham Farm Children's Centre

The first races, organised by St Leonard's Hospice and assisted by Valley Striders, were held in 1999 on the Harewood Hill Climb site. There was a 10k mixed terrain race and a 2 mile fun run.

For 2000, the races moved to the Harewood Estate. There was a 10 mile Trail Race around the Harewood Estate and Eccup Reservoir and a 2 mile Junior Race & Fun Run (the Harewood Hop). This was repeated in Autumn 2001 through to 2004, culminating in a record number of finishers in both races (609 in 10 mile, 179 in 2 miles, a total of 788). Over £12,500 was raised for St Leonard's Hospice over the 6 years - thank you!

In 2005 we had a record number of finishers (242) in the 2 mile, the total for 2 races was 781. In 2006 the 2 mile increased to 249, the total for 2 races was again 781. In 2007 the numbers were 469 and 175, a total of 644.

For these last three years, the recipient of our fundraising has been Lineham Farm Children's Centre at Eccup. The route of the Trail Race goes within 1 mile of Lineham Farm. The 3 years have raised over £10,750 for Lineham Farm. Thank you to Harewood Estate, Yorkshire Water, Up & Running and Duffield Printers for your support. And thank you to all you runners!

We welcome new and returning runners to our race in 2008, which will again benefit Lineham Farm.

Apologies to those of you in the 10 mile for the queues for the gates - this is the first time the gates have not been opened - we will ensure this does not happen next year. Apologies to those of you coming late to the refreshments - we ran out of milk - we will ensure this does not happen next year. We hope the injured runners have all recovered and are back to full training now. Thank you to everyone who entered - we hope you all enjoyed the race and will come back next year (but don't tell too many friends about it). If you have any comments about the race please email them to us. If you click this link the email address will appear.
