13th September 2015: Big VSTC turnout at Leeds Triathlon with a strong team performance and a number of winners.
Anna finished 2nd Lady in the Sprint with Liz picking up the F60 age group win.
In the standard distance, Ben won the M30 age group and Michaela won the F30 too.



16th August 2015: More podium success for Alison at Wensleydale Full Cheese triathlon. Dan and Ben also placing in top 10 for Half and Full cheese respectively

26th July 2015: Valley Striders Triathlon Club win the first team prize at Leeds Xpress Triathlon. John, Dan and Mike finishing 4th and 5th equal overall. The girls not far behind and would have claimed ladies team prize too if there had been a few more Xtra mile mugs on offer.

Events

VSTC will be well represented at the Leeds Triathlon on 13th September 2015 based at Roundhay Park. We have members taking part in both the Sprint and Standard Distance events. Entries are still available. http://www.xtramileevents.com/events/leeds-triathlon/

VSTC have a good number of members racing at the Ilkley triathlon on 20th September 2015. Entries are closed for this popular race.

ITU Leeds triathlon to be held on 12th June 2016 is open for general entries and already we have a number of VSTC members signed up for both the Sprint and Standard distance races. We have set up teams in both races that members can join. http://leeds.triathlon.org/enter_now/

 

Grand Prix

The table is shaping up nicely as more of us complete more events as the season matures. Race types include triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon, quadrathlon etc. Race distances are Sprint, Standard, Middle and Long.

Here are two examples of the club kit design. There are trisuits, speedsuits, tops and shorts available depending on personal preference.

How to Join:

All Valley Striders members are invited to join VSTC.  The pre-requisites are

·         You must be over-18

·         You must be a member of Valley Striders running / athletics section (VSAC) either first claim (you’ve paid the extra £10) or second claim (registered with England Athletics via another club)

·         You must have registered with Valley Striders cycling section (VSCC) to get your VSCC membership card which has emergency contact details”

 

VSTC is affiliated to the British Triathlon Federation (BTF) and it is now possible to join BTF as an individual and specify Valley Striders Triathlon Club in the club section and get a saving of just over 20% on the membership fee. This is ideal for Striders who are already members of BTF but have not affiliated to any club as they will benefit the next time they renew. For Striders who wish to join BTF, please choose VSTC as your club. For Striders who are members of other triathlon clubs you may either remain with those clubs or consider transferring affiliation to VSTC on renewal.

 

The cost of BTF membership is £51 with no club affiliation, or £40 with VSTC. BTF membership brings a number of benefits including £5 off every BTF event that you enter, some insurance and legal assistance for training and racing as well as some retail discounts.
