In the early days of Valley Striders, the Tuesday training run was generally a fartlek session
which generally turned into an eyeballs-out session about half way round.
The problem with this was that our slower runners became rather discouraged by being left behind only 2 miles into the session
and our faster runners were not getting enough variety.
So instead we set up a structure of training sessions on Tuesdays, which has evolved over the years to what is listed below.
Valley Striders is a running club, we run to compete, we run to improve, we run to keep fit.
The only way of improving in competition is to run faster in training.
And running faster in training won't do us any harm even if we are "only" running to stay fit.
The following sessions are all suitable for anyone from 12 minute miling to 5 minute miling.
They will help the 60 minute and the 35 minute 10km runners improve their time (the 60 minute runner will reduce their time by more!)
When do we run?
Every Tuesday, always start from Old Leodiensians' Club ("Old Leos"), King Lane, Leeds (1 mile North of Sainsbury's) ,
about 6:45pm, except for 2nd Tuesday in the month track sesson - see details below.
But if you're late you can always go straight to the session; the information below tells you where it will be.
What are our sessions?
1st Tuesday in month - 3 times 10 minutes with 2min30sec rest between each
2nd Tuesday in month - track session :
various reps see details below
3rd Tuesday in month - 5 times 6 minutes with 1min30sec rest between each
4th Tuesday in month - rolling hills (8 times), 2 mins rest at half-time
