V S Juniors Xmas Party on Tuesday 18 December

39 juniors and 21 adults have already booked and paid. There are just a few spaces left.

The details are as follows

Venue and date - High Farm, Farrar Lane, LS16 7AQ (near Asda) on Tuesday 18 December from 5:30pm to 7:30pm.

Entertainment - children's entertainers "Dash of Wonder" featuring Buddy the Elf and Princess Elsa to entertain the kids with age appropriate games to suit all for the first hour. There will also be a snow and bubble machine for extra entertainment.

Food - for kids will be pizza and chips and a small buffet. There will also be a buffet for adults who want to eat.

Price - £5 for kids, £3.50 for adults.

To book - please pay to the VS Payments account - Sort code: 53-70-00, a/c number: 72143851. Please reference with your full name and 'Junior Xmas'. (we can work out how many junior meals and how many adult meals you've ordered from the price you've paid).

NB please pay to the correct account (not the membership account that ends 3878), also please include your name in the reference - putting "Junior Party" doesn't help!

Peco Races

There are Peco races this Sunday (16 December) at Templenewsam and on Sunday 6 January at West Park.

If you entered prior to race 1 but didn't run in race 1, your number will in a tub at the Valley Striders gazebo. Names are in alphabetical order of surname and these are on the reverse of the number.

If you entered prior to race 1 and ran race 1, bring your number for race 2 (and the rest of the series). If you've lost your number you'll need to buy a new one at race registration (for Templenewsam this will be at the Lady Hertford Suite next to the cafe)

If you entered after race 1, your number will be available for collection from registration.

If you're turning up on the day for your first race, go to registration to pay and get a number.

Northern and National Cross-Country

Northern XC Saturday 26 January at Pontefract

National XC Saturday 23 February at Harewood

NB minimum age is 11 on race day,

Last year we had 10 juniors for the Northern XC when it was at Harewood; we hope to have more than this at both Pontefract at Harewood.

Events for Christmas Week

There will be no club training sessions on Tuesday 25 December or Tuesday 1 January!

There will be a training session for juniors in Roundhay Park on Friday 28 December at 10a.m., meet by the Lakeside Cafe. We will post this in Facebook and there will be a further email with details. We held a similar session in 2015 and 2016 but had to cancel last year because of bad weather. If we do have to cancel we'll post in Facebook and on the front page of the website. There won't be an email because I know many parents use work email addresses and I suspect they won't be reading these over the holidays.

We may have an event for juniors on Sunday 30 December; alternatively we may be encouraging all V S juniors to go to the same junior parkrun. We'll post a discussion on Facebook and will also include in a further email.

Junior Membership Fees

Are due, see www.valleystriders.org.uk/juniorrenewal2018.htm . 89 junior members have now paid as at 10 December (we had 99 last year).
