This year, for the first time, there will be
a 3 x 1 mile Junior relay for 6 - 12 year olds,
starting at 6:30pm, registration from 5:30pm. There will be 2 age categories of
junior teams, one where all team members are aged 9 or less, the other is open
to any age. Prizes for 1st
boys team, 1st girls team and 1st mixed team in each age
category.
See http://www.abbeyrunners.co.uk/golden-acre-relay/
for more details including a map for parking and a map of the course.
Please note that juniors on the Waiting List
are invited to take part.
There is an event in the VS Juniors FB group https://www.facebook.com/groups/369749209844475/
, please respond to this if you want to discuss forming a junior team (or
juniors 13+ for a "young adults" team").
Please email [email protected]
by Sunday 8 July 5pm if you definitely want to run, and if you know who will be
in your team, put this in the email. All names will be shown at www.valleystriders.org.uk/vsteams.htm.
If you've already emailed, please check
www.valleystriders.org.uk/vsteams.htm
before Sunday 5pm that we haven't missed you..Those not choosing who to run with will be
allocated to teams by the Valley Striders Junior Team Manager. All teams will be shown at www.valleystriders.org.uk/vsteams.htm
before Monday 10pm.
On
the day
We will register all Valley Striders teams. Entry fees (including for those on the
waiting list) will be paid by the club.
The car park at Arthington
Road will fill up quickly so if you're not early, it is your choice whether to
park on the verge of Arthington Road (in which case,
fold in your wing mirrors) or in the main car park off Otley Road, which is a
longer walk.
We will have the tall club flag near the
registration area. Sarah Diamond and
Richard Irvine will be team managers, so please report to them and they will
give you your race number (bring 4 pins).
The race number will consist of a team number and a letter, so for example
for team 21 there will be 21A, 21B and 21C.
Please arrive at the very latest by 6:15pm, anyone
missing will be removed from the teams and we will rearrange the teams.
Please arrive by 5:55pm if possible. Richard has volunteered to take everyone for
a walk / slow jog round the route at 6pm.
Later arrivals will miss this opportunity.
At 6:25pm, all the runners will be asked to
come to near the start for a briefing, and then the A runners will be asked to
line up on the start line for the race to start at 6:30pm. There will then be a pen for B runners who
will then start when their A runner arrives back after running the mile circuit, Ditto for C
runners.
Please could anyone who has asked to run but
decides not to run text me on 07775 898 558. Sarah and Richard will then be able to rearrange
teams.
If anyone hasn't registered with us but then
decides they want to come and run, they can do so, but they take pot luck for
teams.
