Peco
XC Sunday 5 March
The
final Peco race is this Sunday at Roundhay Park, 1 mile for school years 4 to 6
at 10:00 and 2 miles for school years 7 to 12 at 10:20. Race details can be found at www.pecoxc.co.uk
(and click on the link for race 5).
Juniors
register on the day. If you've run in
previous races, remember to bring your race number. If you've not run before,
note that all V S juniors school years 4 and above should be capable of running
the race; school years 3 and below should enquire to the
[email protected] email address; take a look at the results of the
first 4 races (on the above website) to see how our other juniors have fared.
NB Not available to juniors on the waiting list.
Seniors, if
you've run in previous races, remember to bring your race number. If you've not run in a previous race but have
registered, your number will be on the V S banner in the club tents area. If you've not yet
registered you'll be able to register as a "guest" for this race.
Junior
Training Tuesday 7 March - NB support runners needed
We
have some coaches unavailable so don't know as yet how many groups we can
support. There will be a separate email
from the "juniors" account over the weekend to let you know.
Hopefully
we'll have as usual 2 groups on the road 1 group on the fields. We'd be very grateful if some of the V S
senior runners could come and help out to support the road groups. Note that we will allocate you to a group
that you can keep up with! Email
[email protected] if you can help. The session finishes before 7pm so you'll
still be able to join your regular intermediates or advanced session at 7pm.
Adult
Training Tuesday 7 March
6pm
- Beginners/Improvers from Far Moss.
7pm
- Intermediates group and Advanced groups from Far

NB

Teams
Wanted - "Peco" Relays Sunday 12 March
Details
now on the Peco XC website www.pecoxc.co.uk and click on Peco Relays.
Although
traditionally known as the Peco relays, this event includes a competitive match
between representatives of the Peco League (centred on Leeds) and the West
Yorkshire Winter League (centred on Bradford).
This year, WYWL are hosting the event at Northowram
near Halifax postcode HX3 7EN. Google
maps tells me that, from Far Moss, this is either 17 or 20 miles (depending on
route taken) and should take around 35 minutes on a Sunday morning.
Juniors
race at 10:00 teams of 3 approx 1 mile each. £3 per
team (I think). The team must comprise at least 1 who is school year 6 or less
and another who is school year 9 or less. So for example a team can be 3 of
school year 6, but not 3 of school year 7.
Teams can be all boys, all girls or mixed. Please use VS Junior Facebook to arrange
teams amongst yourselves, or, alternatively, email
[email protected] and we will try to match teams up within the
rules.
Adults
race at 11:00 teams of 3 approx 3 miles each. £10 per team (I think). Any combination of males and females, any age
groups permitted but there are prizes in the following categories - over 50
men, over 50 women, over 40 men, over 40 women, "open" men (any age),
and "open" women. There is
also an inter-club competition for which the club team must consist of at least
one man, at least one woman at least one over 40, and
no more than one man under 40. Please use VSAC Facebook to arrange teams
amongst yourselves. Email
[email protected] if you wish to be considered for the VS inter-club
team.
NB
this is a very sociable event, many teams are ad-hoc made up of runners from
more than one club (e.g. in recent years I have run with Abbey Runners and with
Wetherby Runners), and I know sometimes runners have run twice if they were in
a team of two.
Teams
Wanted - Northern men's 12 Stage Relays Saturday 25 March
Last
year the men's team finished 16th and qualified for the National.
This
year we only have 6 names so need 6 more men to complete the team. Please message Paul Fotherby on Facebook or
email [email protected] if you want to run.
Please
reply by 7 March
Teams
Wanted - West Yorkshire Track and Field
