Nidderdale Run  The Rotary Club of Harrogate is organising a 20 mile run alongside the Nidderdale Walk on 7th May 2016.  The Club has a good track record in organising the well known  Nidderdale Walk, which has raised over £800,000 for charity over the past 23 years. The 20 mile run is a new event, which will largely follow the Nidderdale Way  and will be limited to 100 runners in the first year. If the event proves to be successful then it will be opened up to more runners and a 10 mile run may also be introduced.  Details of the event can be found at www.runnidderdale.com

Eccup10  Sunday 2 July.  Entries just opened at www.racebest.com

Danefield Relay Tuesday 4 July.  Teams of 3.  See recent discussion on Facebook.  GP points this year!

Thefts from cars in Roundhay Park (message from police)

I am PC Bolland based at Stainbeck Police station, Leeds and currently the ward manager for the Roundhay area.

The reason for my email is in relation to ongoing issues that we are having with theft from motor vehicles that are happening at certain beauty spots across the inner north east area in particular Roundhay Park.

In the last few months we have seen an increase in this type of offence and it has been mostly when there has been some type of activity taking place up at that location.

Last night there were 2 offences in particular at Roundhay Park where vehicles were broken into and mobiles, purses and other valuable items were stolen due to items being left on show whilst the owners took part in activities.

I am currently getting in contact with groups such as yourself that run particular sessions/activities at Roundhay Park.

If you could kindly assist with passing the information on or by getting the word out there somehow to your members it would be greatly appreciated.

RESULTS

Northern Cross-country Championships

Under 13 girls - 28 Tally Diamond 0:12:57, 223 finished.

Under 15 girls - 74 Sophie Turner 0:18:28, 179 finished.

Senior men - 116 Matt Hallam 0:49:00, 148 Paul Fotherby 0:50:19, 215 Daryl Hibberd 0:52:40, 676 finished

Sheffield Festival of Athletics (from Sarah Diamond)

Tally got herself a first place in U13 1500m with a PB of 5:18:17 (previous 5:38) and a 10th place in long jump with a PB 3.58m (previous 3.48m).

We should consider the Sheffield Festival of Athletic for next year. It's held at EIS Sheffield. It's indoor definitely a bonus for the parents but a little hard for the runners as the track is only 200m long and also the officials are very strict (false start and you're out). Similar standard of competitors as York outdoor. Age group starts from under 11's.

Northern Athletics Indoor U13/U15 Track & Field Championships (from Sarah Diamond)

No others Valley Juniors at the Northern Indoor today real shame it was fab.

Tally came 1st in her U13 800m heat with a PB of 2:37 and 6th overall (of 17).

Tally's long jump was a just a little off last week 3.49 (13th out of 18).

Great experience.
