Junior Mile and Autumn Handicap - Tuesday 20 September

Please note that due to the dark evenings, all races are brought forward 20 minutes from their "usual" times. Also note that these times are British Summer Time NOT "Valley Striders Time" (VST is 5 to 10 minutes after BST).

• Junior one mile for school years 1 to 5 will start at 5:50pm. This race is also open to juniors school years 6 and above who are slower than 12 minutes for 2k parkrun. NB parents may run with their children in this race but will not count in the results.
• Junior one mile for school years 6 and above will start at 6:10pm. This race is also open to adults in the beginners/improvers group.
• Club handicap will start at 6:30pm, please arrive for 6:20pm to get your start times.

All races are free to enter and all races are open to club members and non-members including friends of existing members and juniors on the waiting list.

Meeting place for race start and postcode for parking are on the front page of the website www.valleystriders.org.uk. Note that it is a 3 minute jog / 6 minute walk from Alwoodley Lane to the start.

On the night, we will be asking parents of juniors to marshal along the half mile length of the junior route as (especially if it is a nice evening) there are likely to be walkers, dogs and bicycles on the route.

We need about 6 marshals for the 5 mile race, if you are able to do this, please email back, or text me on 07775 898 558. The race can’t take place without these marshals, we have 2 so far.

Membership Fees

Membership fees for the V S year 1 September 2016 to 31 August 2017 are now due. We haven't calculated the junior fee yet, but the adult fee will remain the same as in 2015/6 i.e. £29, which comprises £14 for England Athletics, £7.50 for Leos and £7.50 for Valley Striders. Please make payment to "A C Membership" Sort Code: 53-70-00 A/c Number: 72143878 and reference to include your name. NB this is a different account to that for race entries, hoodies, BBQs etc.

Reflective bibs

Please note that reflective tops/bibs are now compulsory for all 7pm sessions. Leaders are instructed to turn away V S members who do not wear reflective tops.

Save the dates

V S A C Committee / Open Meeting - Tuesday 4 October - This will be the third of these meetings and the final one prior to the AGM - details in the next V S Update.

V S A C Annual General Meeting - Tuesday 1 November - This is the AGM for VSAC i.e. running and athletics. Other VS members are welcome to attend, but sports involving two wheels and/or water won't be discussed!

V S Club Xmas Party - Friday 16 December - Food, drink, music and presentations
