Meanwood Valley Trail Junior Races on Tuesday 14 June

We could do with 3 more marshals, this would mean that parents could then be part-time, i.e. marshal but for the race that their child is running make sure the child is ready and watch the race.

Please turn up to help at 6:15pm in front of Leos clubhouse.

We also need 2 more to come at 5:30 and help with car parking.

Also, at last week's junior session I asked parents to bring gardening equipment, we particularly need spades (to flatten molehills), shears and/or secateurs (to trim branches) and trowels (will leave that to your imagination). One of our race committee thought I'd been joking, no, I wasn't!

Tuesday 14 June

There is a session for experienced runners, 7pm at Leeds Met track

Tuesday 21 June

- Juniors and parents will be at Leos at 6pm.
- Beginners, improvers and intermediates will be at Leos ALSO AT 6PM (see note below)
- Experienced runners will be 5 by 6 minutes by Eccup Reservoir, meet Leos at 7pm
- Early sessions followed by pie and peas at 7:15pm - book at [email protected]
- Later sessions followed by pie and peas at 8:30pm - book at [email protected]
- Book before 10pm Sunday 19 June
- Choosing meat pie or veggie bake (£3.50), also choose mushy peas or baked beans.

Note - there were only 3 for the 7pm beginners/improvers/intermediates last week, so we'll try this group at 6pm - note that we now have more space as the "top" field has now been mown.

Pudsey 10k (race is 95% full) and Junior Races - Sunday 19 June - VS Grand Prix and Leeds Race Series points available, VS Junior Grand Prix and Leeds Junior Race Series points for the junior race.

Hyde Park mile (race is 90% full) and junior half mile - Wednesday 29 June - VSGP, LRS, VSJGP, LJRS.

Eccup 10 (race is 90% full) and junior races - Sunday 4 July - VSGP, LRS, VSJGP, LJRS.

Huddersfield Half Marathon –  from Rob Hamilton

The dual Huddersfield full and half marathon has been described as a tough, hilly race and considered by some to be one of the toughest in the UK. There are stunning views and fantastic long down hills lol. In all this and with no real consistency to my training it didn’t take much thought that I would enter the half. Even though it’s my home town I have never previously entered, but cheered Andy May and Dan Fisher who both came 1st during 2014 marathon and half 2015 respectively. I was delighted to meet up with fellow Strider Chris Sawyer and after discussing pre race tactics we were looking to finish around 1:45 -2:00 hours.  We were on target at around 10 miles, but the heat depleted my efforts.  Overall I was pleased to get the miles under my belt. However poor ambience, lack of marshals on route and not much for your entrance fee.
