Peco Race 5

This Sunday 14 February at Roundhay, details on the Peco XC website www.pecoxc.co.uk.  Note the HQ is at the cricket pavilion and the route is somewhat different from last year.

Message to adults who've not yet run a Peco race this season.  If you pre-registered with us (and paid or are due to pay £3 by internet) your number will be under the V S flag - you will need it before you register on the day at HQ (£3 on the day).  If you didn't pre-register you can enter as "Valley Striders (guest)" on the day, I think it will cost £6.

Juniors need not pre-register, just pay £1 on the day, hope to see lots of junior Striders.

Armed Robbery at Leos (message from Steve Dean, Leos Treasurer)

The club (or to be more precise Tony and Nicky) were held up at 2a.m. Sunday morning when locking up after a function.  They were forced to open the safe and the week's takings plus the float were taken. The till was wrecked and the robbers went off with the club’s keys.  Tony and Nicky were locked in the bar store-room while the robbers made their getaway.

Thankfully everyone is OK, but emotionally the scars may last a bit longer.

As well as the takings being stolen (which will be covered by insurance), Tony was personally robbed over £225 in cash that he had on him plus £600 of his catering monies that were in the safe.  Trina also had put money in the safe.

In order to show support for Tony I'm organising something of a whip round for him and it would be good for all sections of the club to show their support. Would you be willing to ask some of your stalwarts whether they would be willing to contribute (£5, £10, £20 or whatever). I want it to be quite low key and don't want to embarrass Tony, so if you could link in with me that would be great.

FROM BOB - I understand that this has not been released to the press while police investigations take place, but I'm sure you'll see something in the Yorkshire Evening Post in the next few days.  If you wish to support Tony, I'll take cash at club night next Tuesday, or, better still, you could make an internet payment to our A C Payments account Sort Code: 53-70-00  A/c Number: 72143851.  If you make a payment of £4.99 (or, if very generous, £9.99) it will be easily identifiable.

Training on Tuesday 16 February

I've moved this down the contents as it is "same as usual" (unfortunately).

Juniors - The session on the rugby pitches is again cancelled.  But we will be running 3 road groups and juniors who have run 10 parkruns and/or junior parkruns are welcome to join us - meet 6pm at Leos.  We still need a few experienced club runners to come and help with these sessions, please.

Beginners/improvers - meet 6pm at Leos.  Again we will combine this group with the junior groups.

Intermediates - meet 7pm at Leos (NB not at the track).  It will be 1-2-3-4-3-2-1 pyramid at Sandmoor Lane.  We have had between 6 and 8 in this group since Xmas.

Experienced runners - meet 7pm at Leos for 5 by 6 mins at High Ashes
