Fell Championship Meeting – Tuesday 21 January

There has been much discussion via email etc of the format and content of the V S Fell Championship for 2014.  The final decisions will be made at Leos next Tuesday at 8:30pm, so come along and have your say!

Other V S Grands Prix

We now have an agreed * list of events for the V S Grand Prix, see www.valleystriders.org.uk/vsdates.htm (* agreed subject to date clashes)

The same link shows the Junior GP events although other events are still to be added.

And the V S Cycling Grand Prix has also been set up, email [email protected] for further information (although I hope to have it on the website soon)

Extra pie and peas night – Tuesday 28 January

Julia and Tomas are moving to Germany at the end of the month.

Julia says “We have loved running with the Striders and would like a chance to say goodbye. Please join us for extra pie and peas on the 28th.  NB everyone welcome, even if they've no idea who Tomas and Julia are!”

We’ll also have an early pie and peas sitting, so

·         For the 7:15pm sitting, book to [email protected]

·         For the 8:30pm sitting, book to [email protected]

·         choosing meat or veggie pie, whether you want mushy peas or baked beans, and whether you want apple pie

·         Book by 10pm Sunday 26 January

Help!

Still looking for help for Peco race (16 February) and Meanwood Valley Trail (12 April_

Please email [email protected] if you can help at either (or both) of these events.

See www.valleystriders.org.uk/vsmarshals.htm for list of marshals to date.

Calderdale Way Relay

The date has been announced - 11 May.  This is the same date as Leeds Half, but I’m sure most of our off-road runners won’t be disappointed about missing the Leeds Half.

This race, 12 runners per team, with a maximum entry of 100 teams, always fills fast, so we need to decide early how many teams to enter, so we need to know ASAP how many Striders want to run.

Email [email protected] if you’d like to run, check the team lists at www.valleystriders.org.uk/vsteams.htm

Running shoes need good homes

Pair of Mizuno Wave Harrier 3 size UK 5.5.  Latest model and only worn 4 or 5 times. From Kim Knowles.  Didn’t suit her, but I and many others use Wave Harriers for mixed terrain - great on paths, and OK on both road and in mud.

Pair of Asics Gel Cumulus size UK 7.5.  These are mine, are a couple of years old, only worn 5 or 6 times, were a bit stiff for me.

Both pairs available to try, and if you like them, donate whatever you like to Lineham Farm.
