Harewood Marshalling
We now have
sufficient marshals, but everyone still welcome to turn up on Sunday, and, if
you ask, we can offer you an “additional” marshalling point. There can
never be too many marshals!
HOWEVER WE STILL NEED
5 BEER LABELLERS ON SATURDAY, so if you can spare an hour (max 90mins) on
Saturday 11:00 to 12:00 at Harewood Village, please email me and come and help
stick labels on beer bottles – so far it’s just me.
Also this Saturday, remember Brass Monkey entries open at 9a.m. www.yorkknavesmireharriers.co.uk
Fireworks at Leos –
Saturday 2 November
Fire lit at 6:20pm,
fireworks at 7:15pm, food available, cost £5 per car / family
Congratulations
to Richard and Ellen
Adcock proud parents of a new brother for Lucy. I’m inferring further
congratulations are needed as Richard also asked me to “update Ellen’s surname
to Adcock because it finally happened!”

Well is that a first?
Valley Striders winning a West Yorkshire Cross-country League Race? Must be in
the 13-odd years I've been doing it. Fell relays and alternative road fixtures
took their toll on the quality, and numbers were down, and with it the quality
of the field.
However, important team facts. Valley Striders were 6th= last year. Well 4 of
the teams that beat us (Leeds, Wharfedale, Pudsey & Bramley, Bingley)
cannot beat us this year as they failed to finish teams yesterday, and
Holmfirth (6= with us) are 5 points behind us already.
So early notice: Round 3 of the league, to be held on the playing fields below
Leeds Met track (how local can you get!) is the afternoon of the Abbey Dash.
Can any men OF ANY STANDARD, who are not doing the Dash, plan to do the league
race? Valley must get 6 men to finish to score - and it doesn't matter how good
or bad you rate yourself, any 6 will do!
Lovely afternoon for cross-country anyway, sun was out and were Hellys not
required. Simon Midwood 8th must be the first top 10 placing for some time. One
for a 'stato' to check!
Also - Black Cotton t-shirt left at Thornes Park in my possession

Thanks for the
support at the 16/20 mile marker (it was out and back at that point) from
Valley Striders CC (Cycling Club) and other Striders who gave us a great shout,
including Alex W-U, Jason W-U, Simon Midwood, Rachel Foy, Danny Murray, John
Shanks, Mark Lawrence, John Batchelor and Mick Tinker. Simon and Rachel
were also at around the 5 mile marker. Tracey was at 6 miles, she was
running leg 2 of the corporate relay, went past me like a hare at about 9
miles.
