Subject: V S Update - regarding Tuesday 7 February - extra session, curry night, ladies tour, fell meeting

A special V S Update regarding next Tuesday (7 February)

Curry night

Food served from 8:30 pm, book by 10pm Sunday 5th by email to [email protected] saying whether you want meat or veggie curry, and whether or not you want apple pie,  I believe that the goat curry - that was such a favourite at the Xmas do - will be making a return visit, although probably not the same goat.  Please note that if you don’t book by 10pm Sunday, there may be spares, but check, before taking/eating, what type is available.

Three training sessions available

There will be the usual Run Leeds at Alwoodley beginners/improvers session (usually known as Kathy’s group) at 6pm

There will be the usual Club session at 7pm (meet Leos, run 3 by 10mins at High Ashes)

There will be an extra beginners/improvers session at 7pm.  Holly will be leading this and although intended for those in the beginners/improvers group who are stopping for the food, it is open to everyone so if you have friends that want to try out the session but can’t get to us by 6pm, then suggest they come to this special 7pm session.  Note that in Spring we may be running regular beginners/improvers sessions at 7pm (either on Monday or Tuesday) whilst still keeping the Tuesday 6pm session.

Note that last night for the second week running we broke the Striders Tuesday attendance record with 27 runners and 5 coaches at 6pm and 33 runners at 7pm.

Ladies tour discussion at Leos (during the curry) – information from Holly

NB this is a repeat of info from a previous V S Update so if you’ve already replied to Holly, no need to reply again.  If you can’t get to the discussion next Tuesday, you can email Holly [email protected]

Ladies' tour - Sherwood Forest at Clumber Park, 9th June, 10k, trail race

Here is the address  www.rwtrailblazer.co.uk

There are 6 waves so we can group together (sub 45 mins, sub 55, sub 65 and over 65mins, for a 10k), the earliest wave sets off at 11am, last wave 12.45. All runners are chip timed. Solo entries are £30 but if we book in groups of 5 each get £5 off, we hope we get three teams out (three full cars).

As for staying over, at Clumber Park camping site there are Wigwams, 3 pods and a Yurt you can hire, as well as 38 spaces for bringing your own tent, details can be found on the National trust website.

We will be in touch about a get together to organise transport and accommodation (there are no bookings as of today for the camp site we've just mentioned), for now we need to know:

  1. If you're interested
  2. Can drive and give lifts to others
  3. Your 10k time or 5k if you've not done a 10k
  4. Interested in camping/staying in a log cabin or driving home that night

We are looking into concerts/theatre shows etc for the Saturday night in Nottingham and should have some suggestions by the organising meet up.

This trip is open to all ladies, you don't have to officially be a Strider.

Fell running discussion at Leos (during or after the curry)

Reminder
