Subject: V S Mini-update - This weekend and next

This Saturday - in the West Yorkshire Cross Country League, Valley Striders are currently in the lead for the John Smith Trophy (we finished second last year).  This is based on points scores for men and women combined.  In order to retain this lead, we need as many Striders as possible (especially the faster ones) to run at Wakefield on Saturday (and also at Guiseley in 2 weeks time).  Please come and run (but only if you have registered for this league).

This Sunday – good luck to all the Striders running the Abbey Dash.  Tim Towler has emailed “The plan for those wanting a drink after the Abbey Dash, and perhaps something to eat, is to meet up at Angels Share at 12.00. I think we will deserve a lazy afternoon in Chapel A!”

Next Sunday, Abbey Runners and Valley Striders will be closely matched for the Abbey Valley Challenge at Thirsk.  One club has 47 entries, the other 44 entries.  If you have an entry, please run even if you are (like me) only 90% fit.  If you’ve not entered yet, entries will be taken on the day.  Every runner counts in the Abbey Valley Challenge.  The race is 11a.m. start.  NB arrive early to register and/or collect your chip.  Also make your may across the racecourse early to get a good position at the start.  They already have over 1000 entries - last year, with 800 finishers, it was quite busy.  Look out for an email next week to say where we’ll be going after the race, hopefully to celebrate!

NB all 3 races score in the Striders Grand Prix.

See you there!
