Xmas Meal and Presentation Night  Separate email on its way

Sport Direct League  We had 6 men and 1 woman running.  The numbers to count are 8 and 4 and there is a large penalty score for each runner short, hence our low team positions. However there are still 4 more races in the series and we could easily still get promoted if we have full teams at the remaining races.  The next race is Sunday 7 January at Golden Acre Park, details to follow

Sport Direct Results  Men: 49 Andrew Cutts 57 Alan Hutchinson 64 Bob Jackson 82 Eric Green 103 Geoff Webster 122 Paul Sanderson (147 ran).  The men are 6th out of 8 in Division 2 and 8th out of 14 in the Vets.    Women: 9 Carole Schofield (61 ran).  Carole on her own was 5th out of 8 in Division 2 and 10th out of 14 in the Lady Vets.

Chevin Chase is the first race in the 2007 Grand Prix.  If you’re not running, come and support the Striders up on Otley Chevin.  The race starts at 11:00 and it’s on Boxing Day.

Winter Handicap  is the second chance to pick up points for the 2007 GP.  Sunday 31 December, 11:00 start from by the side of the Lake, at the bottom of the Hill leading down from Alwoodley Lane (where we run our summer sessions).  5 miles by the Res, across the dam, almost to the farm and back.  Afterwards back at Leos, where Carole Schofield has volunteered to bring cakes, any other baking (home-made or otherwise) or any other food will be welcome!

London Marathon Entries  on 31 December we will draw a reserve place for 2007 (in case any of Kay, Hayley or Mivvy are injured) and one guaranteed place for 2008. So if you have your rejection slip for 2007 and you want to be in these draws, let me know BEFORE 31 December.  So far I have 4 names – Patrick Barrett, Louise Cleghorn, Michael Grant and Steve Trout.

London Marathon  click on http://www.london-marathon.co.uk/runningclubs/club_list/  nb you will need to log on.  You’ll find a list of clubs around the country which have been specially selected for runners in the London Marathon (who are not members of a club) to contact for advice, training and possibly to join.  So far we are the only club in Yorkshire, so hopefully there will be some new faces in January.

Pie and Peas  Next p&p night will be Tuesday 2 January.  Please email me before or on Sunday 31 December, stating whether meat or veg pie and whether beans or mushy peas

Calderdale Way Results P.S.  Congratulations to the Mixed team – on closer perusal of the results, they were runners-up!

Happy Christmas to all Striders, hope to see many of you at Chevin Chase and/or Winter Handicap.  If I don’t see you there, Happy New Year, too!
