Long run (approx 9 miles) – slowish pace

To include session of 1 minute of comfortable faster pace, take in turns to lead pace. Run will incorporate a number of hills – regroup or rest at bottom. Run hard to the top and regroup. Set off after a period of rest

Road – to include Smithy Mills Lane; Church Lane; Stainbeck Lane; Roxholme Grove; Gledhow Lane (aka Little Switzerland)

3rd April

Rough running

Timed pyramid session – out and back: 3 minutes; 5 minutes; 10 minutes; 5 minutes; 3 minutes

Rugby fields, Adel and Scotland woods, Meanwood Park

24th April

Race route

Recce of the Jack Bloor route. To include simple navigation, rough running, route selection, ascending and descending

Ilkley Moor

5th June

Hill session

Ascending and descending to a given distance – timed session. 6 x 5 minutes with 2 minutes of rest between each

Roundhay Park – Hill 60

3rd July

Rough running

Timed circuit or out and back – 3 x 10 minutes – run one circuit to familiarise with route

Meanwood Park and the Hollies

Navigation

Identifying features, moving on a bearing, pacing. Consolidation pairs “nav challenge”

Leos

4th September

Hill session

Ascending and descending to a given point. Pyramid session 2 minutes; 4 minutes; 6 minutes

Rough running

Circuits and hills – combination of relays, Indian file and measured distances

Trail fartlek – Meanwood Valley race route (head torches required) As per 6th March
