Alison
Rose session 2 February 2010 – Striders feedback
Comments
received from 12 Striders:
- Useful & helpful to think about related
exercises other than just running. Good to get a perspective of something
different to help with injury prevention. I had thought it was going to be
mainly stretching, so was surprised.
- Please
pass on thanks to Ali Rose & team. I really enjoyed the session she
put on and have been trying to incorporate them into warm-ups, albeit
whilst enduring the cruel jibes of the kids on my street. Another session
later on in they year would be brilliant.
- Her session was great -
really great - and yes, another session would be good.
- Thoroughly
entertaining and informative evening. It’s amazing what a few simple
exercises tells you in terms of how bad your
posture and balance is. I know that I need to do other exercises and not just
running, but never do – the drills showed me why I should. Can’t thank Alison and the
team enough for taking the time out to run this and talk to us about it
afterwards. And yes, another session in the Autumn
would be great, particularly as it would make us do the exercises so as
not to be quite so incompetent later!
- V
entertaining, educational! Also shows how unstable we all are on 1 leg! Or
is it just me??
- As I missed Alison’s session the other
week then I would like another one in the Autumn
if at all possible. Sounds like some fun was had line dancing or something
of that nature.
- I thought the session was great and we should
definitely take her up on her offer of coming back again. I've been shown
some of the exercises before when I've been for physio
but it's one thing to be shown them and another
to actually do them and to practice them so I found it very helpful.
- I always
thought that time doing warm-ups and drills was time wasted that could be
spent running. I’ve
changed my mind. It might have
looked like a cross between line dancing and the ministry of silly
walks. But we are now all aware that posture, breathing and movement
technique are just as important as mileage and speed in our training
regimes. Entertaining,
educational and exhausting!
And fortunately it hasn’t yet appeared on U-Tube.
- It's useful to know that small changes in
routine or style can have such a significant effect on running
performance. I know from experience that it's certainly true of swimming
free-style but didn't expect style to have much effect on running,
although that's yet to be proven in my case.
- Thanks Ali for
the drill session. It was really enjoyable and educational session. I
never done drills before and now realise how bad my technique, posture and
overall balance is! With this in mind I plan to continue with the drills
and hope in doing so not to be as injury prone. Sorry, it might mean I
spend less time at Carnegie Sport Injury clinic!!! Thanks for you and your team for
doing the session and I would be interested in any other sessions you may
do in future.
- Until
recently my main sport was cycling.
As I got into running I used to wonder what it was that runners
spent their money on. I soon realised
the answer was...physio. Which is why when four top-class physios give up their evening for free to help us
learn how to prevent injury, it is truly appreciated. Many thanks!
- The
session was really helpful - it was clear, informative and fun. The
handouts are extremely useful too. I'd definitely want to take up
the offer of a session in the future with Ali & her team. I
think it's something that Striders will benefit from, and we'll aim to
make drills a regular, weekly occurrence before the Tuesday night sessions.
